Beginning in 2006 Ford has built a one-off special edition Mustang GT to be auctioned at the EAA AirVenture event, one of the largest aviation events in the world. This year Ford will bring a “Blue Angels” Mustang GT, which just might be one of their best creations yet. The Blue Angels Mustang pays homage to the Blue Angels F-18 Hornet, and the inspiration is made superbly clear throughout the entire vehicle.
This one of a kind Mustang features a chrome blue paint job with “screaming yellow” gloss accents, and of course the Blue Angels script and crest. The end result is an exterior that’s unlike anything else on the road today. The theme continues to the interior as well, transforming the cockpit into one that’s fit for an ace. Inside the Mustang has been equipped with Recaro racing seats with offset stripes, cluster graphics, performance gauges, navigation screen images, safety belt fabric, and rear seat-delete and cross-brace.
If you’re paying homage to the Blue Angels, then it’s not enough to simply look the part, the car must also be able to put on a show. For that, Ford has equipped the Blue Angels Mustang GT with a supercharged 5.0 liter V8 that produces 624 horsepower. Also, just as the Blue Angels are built for maximum maneuverability, so too is the Mustang. This special Mustang GT will come with a handling package and race-grade brakes.
Whoever is lucky enough to claim ownership of the Blue Angels Mustang GT, will definitely have to pay a large sum for it. But, it’s for a good cause as all proceeds are going to the EAA Young Eagles organization.
