Excite Rallye Raid Team, or the first British team to race proffessionally in the Dakar Rally, released today the first image of their Evoque racer, and announced its drivers. The Range Rover Evoque Dakar rally cars will be driven by Martin Rowe, John Hardy and Andrew Coley.
The cars are commissioned from RaBe Race Cars, a company with solid roots in off-road motorsports, which will celebrate its 100th anniversary next year.
The Range Rover Evoque Dakar racer is powered by a 3-liter BMW diesel engine, which outputs 275 hp and 650 Nm of torque. The power is sent to the wheels via a 6-speed ZF transmission featureing a two speed transfer case.
The Evoque rally car measures 3.8 m in length, 2 meters in width and 1.9 m in height. It weighs 1900 kg and has a 2.8 m wheelbase. Based on the three-door version of the Evoque, the Dakar rally car has wider wheel arches, new front and rear ends, and countless modifications underneath the skin.
Excite hopes their new Range Rover Evoque rally car will bring them a podium finish in the 2012 Dakar rally.
